‘I'm happy now’: Player glad he is not at Arsenal anymore

Willian has told Sky Sports that he should not have left Chelsea for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and is now very happy at Fulham.

The Brazilian winger made the comments ahead of Fulham’s Premier League match against Arsenal at Craven Cottage in London on Sunday.

Willian, who can also operate as an attacking midfielder, joined Fulham in the summer transfer window.

The Brazilian is set to start for Fulham against his former club Arsenal in the London derby on Sunday.

Willian moved to Arsenal on a free transfer after leaving London and Premier League rivals Chelsea in 2020.

The 34-year-old failed to make a massive impact at the Emirates Stadium and left after just one season.

Now back in England from his spell at Corinthians, Willian is flouring at Fulham and has become a key figure in Marco Silva’s team.

The Brazilian has scored three goals and given two assists in 17 Premier League starts for Fulham so far this season.

Although Willian is happy that he is not at Arsenal anymore, he is pleased to see the Gunners doing well under manager Mikel Arteta.

Willian on Arsenal

Willian said, as transcribed by The Sun: “Yeah. I wish I’d never left (Chelsea). Of course it’s easy to say now, but when I stop and think about all the situations…

“I say to myself ‘I wish I never left’. It’s life. I’m happy now at Fulham, enjoying myself there, this is life.”

The winger added:  “They are flying now.

“I don’t know. It was in the middle of the… it was changing a lot. I was excited when I signed with them.

“I was training hard but it just didn’t work, and that’s it.”
