Michael Dawson says William Saliba’s injury situation is a ‘big concern’ for Arsenal, especially if he doesn’t return to action sooner rather than later.
The 22-year-old Arsenal star has been on the sidelines on either side of the International break, with Rob Holding stepping in for the £27 million (Sky Sports) French defender.
Interestingly enough, Mikel Arteta’s side have picked up two 4-1 wins, including against Leeds United on Saturday, with William Saliba watching on.
In those matches, you expect the Premier League leaders to do a job, and they have done, albeit, without a clean sheet to their name.
But it’s a different story travelling to Anfield to take on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, which they will do on Sunday, despite their indifferent form or having to lock horns with their title rivals Manchester City.
These matches are around the corner and former Premier League defender Michael Dawson stated that it’s an issue if Saliba isn’t back in time, as he told Sky Sports News (01/04/23 at 2:50 pm).
“That’s a big concern,” said Dawson. “I am a big fan of Saliba. In the way Arsenal play, with Ben White beside him and Gabriel, they have been brilliant.

“Ben White likes to go upfield and join in. As a defender, you have to be able to defend one v one. Saliba can do that
“Rob Holding is a little bit different. The physique. The way he moves across the ground. All these kinds of things. He’s going to be a massive miss, Saliba.”
LIVERPOOL UP NEXT…
Regardless of what type of season Liverpool are having, one thing that can’t be argued is their performances at Anfield.
Despite all their issues, they have lost only one league game and they have beaten Newcastle United, won the Merseyside derby, picked up three points against Manchester City and smashed Manchester United.
So, this isn’t going to be easy for the Premier League leaders, although, securing the points and it would be one hell of a statement.
