Paul Scholes says there would be ‘something wrong’ if he was worried about Tottenham Hotspur being an issue for Manchester United in the race for Champions League football.
The Manchester United legend noted that if Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool or managerless Chelsea were chasing them, then it would be a different story.
But given the teams involved in the top-four race, including fifth-placed Tottenham ahead of their trip to Everton on Monday night, then Scholes expects Erik ten Hag and Co. to do the job.

These comments from the former midfielder came before Manchester United were beaten at Newcastle United on Sunday, who leapfrogged them in the Premier League table – Scholes was left baffled by the actions of the home team after the match.
That fourth spot is still in Man United’s hands because they are one point ahead of fifth-placed Spurs, who can move into fourth with at least a point at Goodison Park.
But, by then, the managerless club would have played two games extra, either way, Scholes isn’t too fussed about Man United possibly losing a Champions League spot to those at Hotspur Way, as he told Premier League Productions (02/04/23 at 1:05 pm).
“They (Manchester United) are playing a lot of football as well since that Carabao Cup,” said Scholes.

“If Liverpool were chasing them in that fourth or fifth place, or if Chelsea were up there, but with the clubs that it is Newcastle, Brighton and Brentford, I know they are having brilliant seasons, but you expect Man United to pip them.
On Tottenham: “Well, they are Spurs, aren’t they?! No, I am not worried about Spurs. There would be something wrong if I was worried about Spurs.”

POINTS ON THE BOARD
It’s going to be interesting to see how Spurs react to the sacking of Antonio Conte and if they can put the points on the board, rather than worrying about others having games in hand.
The issue for Cristian Stellini’s side is that they still have to play Manchester United, Newcastle United, Brentford and Liverpool during these coming weeks.
All these teams are in with a chance of playing against the elite next season, so many punches are going to be thrown Tottenham’s way, it’s just a case of whether or not they can withstand the heat that will come their way.
