The former Liverpool star believes that Nagelsmann is a top manager and is ideal for Tottenham.
The German boss has recently been sacked as the Bayern Munich boss.
Thomas Tuchel has replaced him at Bayern.
The Times have reported that Tottenham are now interested in appointing Nagelsmann as their new manager.
Sky Sports have claimed that the 35-year-old himself is open to holding talks with Spurs, but he may decide to wait to take a new job until the summer.
Antonio Conte is out of contract at Tottenham at the end of the season, and Spurs could reportedly sack the former Chelsea boss following his extraordinary rant last weekend.

In our view, Julian Nagelsmann would be a very good and exciting managerial appointment for Tottenham Hotspur.
The German has already won four major trophies in his career, including the Bundesliga title with Bayern Munich last season.
Nagelsmann has managed in the UEFA Champions League as well.
Now, of course, Tottenham simply cannot expect the German manager to come and win them the title.
Spurs will have to give Nagelsmann the tools to succeed.
If Tottenham do that, then the progressive manager could take them to a whole new level.
