Andy Cole has warned the likes of Liverpool about signing West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice and how he ‘wouldn’t’ put down ‘£100 million’ for the player.
The Manchester United legend compared Declan Rice to his former teammates Paul Scholes and Roy Keane, and how he doesn’t think he has the attacking qualities those two had in their locker as sitting midfielders.
Whilst nobody questions the defensive side of Rice’s game, one criticism that has been aimed at the 24-year-old is the lack of goals in his game.

From his 194 Premier League matches, Rice has eight goals, including two during this current campaign as David Moyes’ side battle relegation.
The Hammers picked up a valuable 1-0 win against bottom-of-the-table Southampton at the weekend, and regardless of what happens to the club in May, there is every chance Rice heads for the exit.
David Moyes previously stated that Rice will cost more than Chelsea’s British record transfer Enzo Fernandez, but when former striker Andy Cole was talking about the England star’s price tag, he was unsure, as he told Premier League Productions (02/04/23 at 1:45 pm).
“I look at him and turnaround and say ‘right, would I give £100 million for him?’” asked Cole. “I wouldn’t. If you are talking about a holding midfield player, the two I played with.

“Scholesy, who bombed forward and can play holding midfield as well. Roy Keane bombed forward and was holding midfield.
“Is he going to power you forward in midfield? Is he going to nick you a goal, now and again? Will he dominate a midfield?”

LIVERPOOL’S INTEREST IN RICE
Back in December, GiveMeSport reported about Liverpool’s interest in Rice, alongside many of their Premier League rivals – Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal think he is a ‘real leader’.
But what’s encouraging for Jurgen Klopp’s side is that Rice would be ‘tempted’ to join, it’s just a case of whether FSG will put their money where their mouth is because the Merseyside-based club need some serious investment in the summer.
Well, if the former Chelsea academy product gets that move to a Champions League club, then he needs to step up a few levels because even Roy Keane thinks he has gone backwards this season.
