Jose Enrique has lauded Leandro Trossard as a ‘top player’ on his Instagram story and added that he wished Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool signed the winger instead of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
Over the weekend, Trossard, who signed for Arsenal during the January transfer window for £27 million from Brighton (Sky Sports), supplied a hat-trick of assists in a first-half demolition job of European-chasing Fulham.
It was a record-breaking 45 minutes for Trossard because he became the first man in Premier League history to notch three assists in the first half of an away game.

The 28-year-old is already paying back his transfer fee and providing Mikel Arteta with possible title-winning performances because that’s five assists and one goal since he moved to the Emirates.
Whilst Arsenal landed Trossard’s signature, the faltering Reds added dutch forward Cody Gakpo to their ranks, and after a slow start, he is now starting to pick up, with four goals to his name, including a brace during that 7-0 humiliation of Manchester United.
But judging by Jose Enrique’s comments, he seemingly wanted his former side to sign Trossard instead, as he alluded to below on his IG story.

“Top player (is Trossard),” said Enrique. “I wish we (Liverpool) had signed him in January, but we didn’t and we went for Gakpo instead because of the age.”

TROSSARD IS A SMART PURCHASE
The call from Arsenal to stick and push with Eddie Nketiah post-World Cup following Gabriel Jesus’ injured, added with signing Trossard, is one that could prove to be defining.
Many thought the Gunners were in trouble when Jesus got injured for Brazil at the Qatar World Cup, but during his time on the sidelines, both Eddie Nketiah and then Trossard have played that number nine role – the lead at the top to Manchester City is still five points.
From Nketiah’s late winner against Manchester United to Trossard’s most-recent display, if Arsenal win the Premier League title, then these decisions and calls will prove to be monumental.
