The Block host Scott Cam revealed on Thursday some of the behind-the-scenes secrets the crew used to keep neighbours happy while they filmed on their street.
The builder-turned-reality TV host, 60, was discussing the new season on The Kyle and Jackie O Show when Jackie, 48, asked how they appeased angry neighbours.
‘It’s not bad because we really beautify the street and the houses turn out to be amazing,’ Scott began.
‘People in the street were really happy. We always give them gift baskets and their own private tours and things like that.’
Kyle then quipped these kinds of perks were commonly referred to as ‘payoffs’ and Cam jokingly agreed.

Cam also revealed they rented out several houses in the street so the crew would have a unit base to work out of and gave the properties a nice do-over upon leaving.
‘We pay a great amount of rent for them and then they can go live with their mum. Then we put floor coverings in every room and paint the whole house upon leaving.’
Last month, Cam set the record straight about rumours he plans to retire from Nine’s hit renovation show at the end of the year.

The presenter attended a launch party for the upcoming season of his show and told the crowd he is planning on staying for a long time.
‘Two months ago I signed a multiple year deal with the Nine Network. It was an easy decision as I love this show and couldn’t think of going anywhere else,’ he told Daily Mail Australia.
Cam then said while he had no immediate retirement plans, when that day came in the distant future he had the perfect person in mind to take over as host.

‘It’s not bad because we really beautify the street and the houses turn out to be amazing. People in the street were really happy. We always give them gift baskets and their own private tours and things like that,’ Scott said
‘I reckon the only person who could do it is my current co-host Shelley Craft, that’s right,’ he said.
Cam added the upcoming season would provide gripping entertainment for viewers, with a mixture of heartwarming and heated moments.
‘It’s a friendly Block but there is hidden controversy throughout, it bubbles away until it hits a peak. It’s very exciting,’ he said.
The Block premieres Sunday, August 6, on Channel Nine.
