Hoax claiming Elon Musk purchased Spotify debunked

Elon Musk took the world by storm when he announced that he had bought Twitter. Now, a video has sparked the theory that the Tesla owner bought Spotify, but did he really?

Twitter has undergone many changes ever since Elon Musk took over it in 2022. Since then, speculations have suggested he would be taking over other social media platforms very soon.

While he has not competed for Mark Zuckerberg‘s Facebook or Instagram, a video sure had many convinced that he is going to buy Spotify.

Did Elon Musk buy Spotify?

No, Elon did not buy Spotify. Rumors about this started emerging after people came across a video that claimed the same.

The title of the clip reads: “Elon Musk JUST Bought Spotify.” The channel is named Elon Musk Zone and consists of different videos that “transform the original content from shows, podcasts, and key-notes with Mr. Elon Musk to provide the viewers with a more immersive experience.”

In the past, the YouTube channel has covered several topics such as UFOs, the pyramids of Egypt, and more.

There were similar rumors in the past

This is not the first time such rumors took over the internet. Nearly a month prior to the Spotify news, internet speculation claimed that Elon had purchased ABC and fired the employees.

This speculation reportedly started on Facebook where users were convinced that the Tesla owner had cancelled The View while taking over ABC.

In reality, he has not made any new purchases and Twitter was his last one.

He has spoken about stepping down as Twitter CEO

Back in December 2022, Elon decided to do a poll asking users if he should step down as the CEO of Twitter. In it, majority of the people replied with “yes.”

While he never brought up this conversation again, there were a few who were ready to volunteer. MrBeast and Snoop Dogg were the top contenders for the position.

At that time, MrBeast wrote in his tweet, he wrote: “Can I be the new Twitter CEO?” and Elon replied by saying: “It’s not out of the question.”
