Jamie Carragher says Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison is ‘the worst’ when it comes to rolling around after diving following accusations aimed at Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo and Manchester City’s Jack Grealish.
The Liverpool legend has a past history when it comes to Richarlison, who joined Spurs in the summer, following his days in the colours of Everton.
When Liverpool beat Everton in the Merseyside derby last season at Anfield, Carragher wasn’t happy with the so-called playing acting from the Brazil international – it resulted in a war of words between the two.
Well, when Manchester City beat Liverpool 4-1 at the Etihad on Saturday, two players on either side – Jack Grealish and Cody Gakpo – were accused of diving by fans.
Carragher admitted that Liverpool’s January capture does go down easily, but he thinks only one man is the king of play-acting.
The defender-turned-pundit stated that he has never had an issue with players diving, it’s just the ‘rolling about’ that annoys him, as he posted on Twitter.
“Every team has players who go down easily, Grealish being one & Gakpo in this game also,” said Carragher. “It doesn’t bother me as I wanted Owen/Fowler/Torres & Suarez to go down & get us a penalty when I was playing. I’ll call things out when I feel it’s right not when you tag me in a tweet.”
NO EVERTON RETURN FOR RICHARLISON
Managerless Tottenham travel to Merseyside to take on Everton at Goodison Park on Monday night, with relegation and Champions League places on the line.
Newcastle United, Manchester United, Tottenham, Brighton and Liverpool are all in the thick of a Champions League fight.
But Spurs will be without Richarlison for that fight because Cristian Stellini has ruled him out of the Everton trip through injury.
It will probably be a boost for those on Merseyside, who are sitting in the Premier League’s relegation zone, but one point will be enough to pull them out and drag Leeds United back in.
