Alexis MacAllister is delighted to see the ‘amazing’ Moises Caicedo bring an end to those Arsenal rumours while committing his future to Premier League high-flyers Brighton and Hove Albion, speaking to talkSPORT (6 March, 11.50am).
Hands up who saw this coming when Caicedo took to social media – just two months ago – in an attempt to force through a dream move to Arsenal?
Regardless of whether the Ecuador international sticks around until 2027 – and the smart money suggests he won’t – Brighton supporters can sleep a little easier now knowing that a summer saga is likely to be avoided.

“I think it’s really nice, for the club and for him. I think everyone knows that Moises is really happy here at the club,” beams MacAllister, Brighton’s World Cup-winning Argentine.
“He is enjoying it. So it’s really nice for the club. We are really pleased that he stays here with us.
“I think he is a fantastic player. Physically, defensively, he can play (as a number) six or an eight. He’s got versatility. I think he’s an amazing player, and I wish him all the best.”

Will Arsenal return for Moises Caicedo of Brighton and Hove Albion?
Arsenal made two bids for the one-time Everton target during the January transfer window, including one £70 million offer (Sky Sports). Brighton refused to budge on their £90 million asking price, however, for a man who, at the time, had started fewer than 30 Premier League games for the Seagulls.
“The offers were received. You see what is on the table, and Moises said that he wants to go forward. That it is the dream of his whole life; an opportunity that may not return,” Caicedo’s agent explains.
“We don’t know what will happen tomorrow. Maybe he trains and picks up an injury. We can’t know what’s going to happen.
“(But) Brighton did not sell him. They understand the situation, and they love him very much.”
It feels unlikely that Arsenal will make a new approach for Caicedo in the off-season, with West Ham United captain Declan Rice now their number one midfield target.
