Reported Leeds United and Everton target Viktor Gyokeres is ‘100 per cent’ ready for the Premier League, fellow Swede Viktor Johansson tells Aftonbladet.
To paraphrase the great Brian Clough, we don’t know if Mark Robins has done the best job anywhere in the EFL but he’s certainly in the ‘top one’. No matter the challenge, no matter the size or the nature of the obstacle, Robins’ Coventry almost always find a way around it.
Despite beginning the season with a seven-game winless run – their first three home matches postponed due to problems with their Ricoh Arena pitch – the Sky Blues are now just three points off the play-offs as another enthralling Championship campaign enters the final stretch.

And, with Gyokeres leading the line, anything feels possible.
“He is absolutely incredible,” says compatriot Johansson, who also plays in the second-tier with Rotherham United. “He is really big in the Championship. He is talked about everywhere and all the time.
“One hundred per cent (Gyokeres is ready for the Premier League).”

Leeds United and Everton like Viktor Gyokeres of Coventry City
Both Leeds and Everton appear to agree. Gyokeres, with 19 goals to his name, has already overtaken his tally from the whole of 2021/22. If Coventry are to have any hope of retaining their £25 million-rated talisman – Gyokeres likened to Erling Haaland by Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray – then promotion is a must (TEAMtalk).
“(The season) has gone well for myself,” says the former Swansea City youngster. “I have scored some goals and (produced some) assists, and we have won most of the games.
“It is clear that you want to play in the best leagues. But you have to take that after the season. Now, I just try to focus on Coventry and try to go up with them. But it is clear that I am aiming higher.
“It is clear that it would be fun to play there (in the Premier League). But I don’t think about it too much. I can play in some other leagues too.”
Gyokeres’ contract expires in the summer of 2024. Even if Coventry do go up – Robins bringing an end to their 22-year absence from the top flight – retaining Gyokeres’ services, or tying him down to a new deal, may be beyond even their miracle-working manager.
