Speaking on talkSPORT, Tony Cascarino has been discussing Mason Mount’s future as speculation continues around his Chelsea future.
The midfielder is yet to sign a new deal with the Blues and as he enters the final 12 months of his contract, he’s being strongly linked with a move to Liverpool.
Cascarino is intrigued to see what Mount will do next, and he believes that the England international could do really well at either Newcastle or Liverpool.

Mount’s next move
Cascarino discussed Mount’s next steps.
“He’ll have interest from clubs without a doubt. It comes down to Mason, if he wants to stay at Chelsea, sit on the money and find himself in and out of the team, does that sit well with him? Probably not,” Cascarino said.
“I’m not sure where he’d play at Liverpool. Will it be at the top of the three behind the centre-forward? He won’t play on the right because that’s Salah, Diaz will come back so it won’t be on the left. It’s central attacking midfielder, they did have Oxlade-Chamberlain to fill that role, but he didn’t really achieve that because he had big injuries. That’s the only way I see him.

“I think he’d do really well in that role, Mason Mount will have more than Liverpool chasing him, a number of clubs will be interested in taking him. If you were Newcastle would you be interested in taking him? If you want to become more of a Champions League team I think Mason Mount will fit really well in the way Newcastle play.”
Doesn’t suit Liverpool
Cascarino is speaking about Mount as if he’ll be playing a number 10 role at Liverpool, but the problem is that Liverpool don’t play a number 10.
Fabio Carvalho knows that only too well. He was signed this summer and is yet to play in his favourite role as a number 10.
Liverpool play with one holding midfielder and two box-to-box players, they get their creativity from their full-backs rather than their midfield.
Mount probably does suit Newcastle more than he suits Liverpool.
