West Ham United v Leeds United - Premier League

Kevin Nolan has claimed that West Ham United midfielder, Declan Rice, would make Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool a ‘better team’.

The West Ham United coach stated that he ‘doesn’t ever want to think’ about Declan Rice possibly leaving this summer, but he made it clear that would make ‘any Premier League’ better than they are.

At the age of 24, with 12 months set to run on his contract in the summer, all the signs suggest that the hard-hitting midfielder will depart – there are some claims that he is open to making a move to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

It’s just a case of how much transfer fee will the Hammers demand for the player – after Chelsea paid a British record transfer of £107 million for Enzo Fernandez, David Moyes thinks Rice will fetch more than that price.

After Liverpool’s Jude Bellingham blow, Kevin Nolan spoke about how the Reds aren’t shopping in the high price bracket, before his comments about Rice and Liverpool might not sit well with West Ham fans, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.

“Although they are shopping in that market, it’s £50, 60 and 70m, not the hundreds,” said Nolan. “Will they get Declan (Rice) for around that? I very much doubt it.

“But you never know in this walk of life. I don’t ever want to think of it, but if Declan was playing for Liverpool, then I think he makes them a better team, as I think he would do for any other Premier League team being as biased as I am, for the love I have for the kid and for the love I have for what’s done for West Ham.”

NO CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FOOTBALL

Liverpool’s issue is that if they aren’t going to be in the Champions League next season, then it might result in players like Rice going elsewhere.

Whilst it would still be a step up from West Ham, the England international is craving Champions League football.

If your Arsenal’s or Manchester United’s come knocking, with UCL football, then they will have that edge over their Premier League rivals, so the Merseyside club have to do everything they can to win every game possible from now until the end of the season, so they can finish in the top four.
