Jamie O’Hara slammed Arthur Melo for ‘shaking hands’ with Pep Guardiola as soon as Manchester City equalised against Liverpool at the Etihad on Saturday.
As Julian Alvarez was putting the ball into the back of the net, two Liverpool players, in Konstantinos Tsimikas and on-loan Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo, were walking back to their dugout after a warm-up when Pep Guardiola proceeded to celebrate in front of them.
Tsimikas just smiled and walked away from the Manchester City boss, but former Barcelona star Arthur shook hands with the Camp Nou legends before they exchanged words, although it was a pleasant exchange.

To be fair, Guardiola is pretty lucky because other players would have reacted very differently to his actions, even if he was trying to be friendly.
But, imagine if the shoe was on the other foot, if it was the other way around, then the four-time Premier League title winner probably wouldn’t have been smiling back like Tsimkas and Arthur were.
Either way, how Arthur reacted to it all didn’t sit well with former midfielder Jamie O’Hara, who suggested that he doesn’t understand the Merseyside club, as he told Sky Sports News (02/04/23).
“I don’t know what Arthur is doing there,” said O’Hara. “I am not really sure what Arthur is doing there. You don’t go and shake the manager’s hands after you have conceded.
“It’s a difficult one because Pep is excited, Man City have scored and they are walking back from warming up.

“Arthur isn’t part of Liverpool, in my opinion. He hasn’t been there in the successful moments. He isn’t a die-hard Liverpool. He has hardly featured this season.
“To be honest, I don’t think he has that heart of what Liverpool fans and players are used to. I think Tsimkas has. He has been about it. Played for Liverpool this season.”

ONLY 13 MINUTES
This has been a loan of pure disaster for Arthur Melo because the 26-year-old has had a time to forget on Merseyside.
Only 13 minutes for the Brazil midfielder, with a long-term injury, suffered before the Qatar World Cup, resulting in such a situation for the player.
It’s obvious that the Reds won’t extend Arthur’s stay, but can he help push the club over the Champions League line? Well, he’s going to need minutes for that and he will be hoping he earns that when Jurgen Klopp’s side travel to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea on Tuesday night.
