Clinton Morrison says Unai Emery is a ‘serious manager’ as he backed in-form Aston Villa to make a return to Europe.
On Saturday, Villa breezed past Bournemouth to make it back-to-back home wins under Unai Emery, as well as clean sheets, after losing 4-2 on the bounce to Leicester City and Arsenal.
When Emery replaced Steven Gerrard in the Villa dugout, the club was in a mess, from the sleepwalking style of play, to individual players regressing and the team hovering above the drop zone.

The right call was made to boot Gerrard out of the door after their defeat to Fulham, but it was an even better decision by Villa, and especially co-owner, Nassef Sawiris, to appoint Emery as their new coach.
The mood around the West Midlands is growing by the week, as the trust in the work Emery is doing and a real belief that a return to Europe is on the cards.
That will be the aim for Villa next season, but don’t rule out this current campaign, with former Birmingham City striker Clinton Morrison claiming that the team is ‘looking good’ and Europe is on the cards, as he told Premier League Productions (21/03/23 at 4:30 pm).
“Emery is a serious manager,” said Morrison. “I just said that he is an outstanding manager. It might be next year, or in a couple of years, he will get Villa into Europe because they have got the backing.

EUROPE THE AIM
There aren’t many active managers in today’s game who have the record Emery has in Europe and if he can guide Villa back to the elite, then they will seriously start to cook.
It’s just a case of taking that first step back, then the real magic can start from Emery, as well as the well-liked owners pushing the boat out in the transfer market.
But, as of now, Villa are still going under the radar because, aside from Arsenal and Manchester City, no team has picked up more points than the Midlands side since Emery took over, which is some going.
