Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has made Garth Crooks’ latest Premier League Team of the Week.
The 24-year-old has been superb for the Gunners this season and has been improving with each passing matchday.
Ramsdale’s efforts at the weekend helped Arsenal continue on their march towards the Premier League title.
The £30million keeper made numerous good saves against Leeds United en route to a 4-1 win.
Ramsdale’s stop against Jack Harrison, with the scoreline still goalless, was a particularly big moment.
Crooks, writing on BBC Sport, gave honourable mentions to David de Gea and Nick Pope.
However, the Arsenal goalkeeper got the nod as the pundit’s goalkeeper of the week.
“David de Gea couldn’t have done any more to have kept Manchester United in the game against Newcastle at St James’ Park but eventually lost 2-0 after some abject defending,” wrote Crooks.
“Newcastle’s Nick Pope kept a clean sheet but the Reds never really threatened his goal.
“Arsenal, however, could have been 3-0 down in the first half against Leeds if it hadn’t been for Aaron Ramsdale.
“The Arsenal keeper is having a great season and growing in confidence with every game and he will need it.
“The next few weeks are about to be the most important in his playing career.

“If Ramsdale can hold his nerve then he’s almost certain to win a Premier League medal.
“Should he panic or falter in any way it will be curtains… no pressure.”

Our view
Ramsdale has been a revelation for Arsenal since his £30million move from Sheffield United in 2021.
When speculation emerged regarding the Gunners’ interest in the 24-year-old, there was criticism from some quarters.
Ramsdale had been relegated with both the Blades and Bournemouth, which led to some concern about him.
In addition, some wondered why Arsenal were willing to spend so much on a keeper when they already had Bernd Leno.
Luckily, Mikel Arteta and Edu ignored all the noise and brought Ramsdale to the Emirates Stadium.
It didn’t take long for the player to dethrone Leno as Arsenal’s number one.
Now, he’s an indispensable player and fan favourite.
Could he soon be a Premier League winner? We’ll see.
