HALLOWEEN star Charles Cyphers has died at the age of 85.
His manager, Chris Roe, confirmed that the actor had a brief illness.
Charles died in Tuscon, Arizona, on Sunday, August 4.
“Charles was a lovable and sensitive man,” Chris told Variety.
“He always had the best stories, and you got a full performance while he told you. He was a close friend and client of many years who will be dearly missed.”
Charles played Sheriff Leigh Brackett in the 1978 Halloween film.
He reprised his role in the 1981 and 2021 sequels.
During an interview at HorrorCon UK in 2022, Charles said it was “shocking but wonderful” to be asked back for Halloween Kills, the third movie in the franchise.
“To be called back again in a film, it’s unheard of after 40 years. Most people are dead,” he said.
“Thankfully I didn’t die so they brought me back.”
“It was wonderful to come back and do it again and be paid. It was nice. I enjoyed it,” Charles ended.
Nancy Kyes, who played Annie Brackett in the first two Halloween movies, paid tribute to her on-screen dad.
“So sorry to hear about dear Chuck. My friend of many years, he could always be relied on for a kind word, a good laugh and a great story. How he will be missed,” she said in a statement.
