Tottenham Hotspur v Nottingham Forest - Premier League

Tottenham Hotspur bounced back from their disappointing midweek Champions League defeat with a solid Premier League win over Nottingham Forest.

Spurs ran out 3-1 winners at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, though they endured a nervy finish to the match.

Richarlison started despite his controversial post-match interview after the last-16 second leg against AC Milan.

He delivered an impressive display and had the ball in the back of the net as early as the third minute.

However, VAR denied Richarlison his first Premier League goal for the Lilywhites.

Despite that disappointment, the 25-year-old did everything but score, helping his teammates get on the scoresheet.

Richarlison battled hard to work the ball into the box in the lead-up to Harry Kane’s opener.

And Sky Sports pundit Michael Dawson liked what he saw from the Brazilian.

“It was great play down the right by Richarlison,” Dawson said on Soccer Saturday (11/3/23, 15:20).

“Kane just headed it back from where it had come from.”

‘Fire in their eyes’

He was then brought down for a penalty which the England captain slotted home for a 2-0 lead at the break.

Richarlison was also at the heart of Spurs’ third in the 62nd minute.

He crossed for Son Heung-min, who duly swept home into the bottom corner.

Nottingham Forest threatened a comeback late on as Joe Worrall netted eight minutes from time.

Then, in injury time, Dejan Kulusevski conceded a penalty, but Fraser Forster kept out Andre Ayew’s spot-kick.

All in all, a great performance from Spurs as Richarlison once again showed he’s a cut above.

Alasdair Gold told football.london the £175,000-a-week ace was “involved in everything”.

Sadly a Premier League goal still eludes him, but he’s contributing in every other way. Surely it won’t be long.
