Paul Merson has made a prediction about whether Liverpool will be able to get a third successive win under their belt against Bournemouth off the back of their record-breaking 7-0 win against Manchester United.
While Erik ten Hag’s men were widely slated for putting in a shambolic showing at Anfield, it would be silly to suggest that Jurgen Klopp’s side were not at least close to their ruthless best for stretches of the game.
Keeping that in mind, one would expect Paul Merson to expect Liverpool to beat Bournemouth with ease in his latest prediction.
Paul Merson prediction: Liverpool to endure shock defeat vs Bournemouth
In fact, almost any and every fan or pundit would back the Reds to put Gary O’Neil and Co. to the sword, despite them testing Arsenal right down till the last kick of the game before eventually losing 3-2 on Saturday.
However, Paul Merson still envisions Liverpool to suffer a 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth in his prediction for Sportskeeda.

“Bournemouth have done a decent job in recent weeks. A couple of weeks ago, Bournemouth would have fancied their chances heading into a game against Liverpool.”
“But suddenly, the Merseysiders have beaten Manchester United 7-0 and are back in the race for a top-four berth. It goes to show that the timing of games matters.”

“It’s probably the first time in three or four years that you haven’t given Liverpool much of a chance against Manchester United. So, the 7-0 win at Anfield over the Red Devils was an unbelievable result for me. Bournemouth did really well against Arsenal last week. It was a good performance and they’d be gutted to have lost with effectively the last kick of the game.”
While it seems as if Paul Merson was impressed by Liverpool against Manchester United, it seems as if gut feeling has prompted him to back Bournemouth to avenge their 9-0 thrashing with a win in his prediction for the reverse fixture.
