Clinton Morrison and Jeff Stelling have told Vincent Kompany to ‘go now’ and get the Tottenham Hotspur manager’s job.
The former Premier League striker admitted that he is ‘surprised’ Burnley boss Vincent Kompany is on Tottenham’s managerial list.
The Manchester City legend is edging closer to guiding Burnley to the Premier League after dominating the Championship this season.
The Clarets have only lost two league games out of 38 this season and they are still on course to hit the 100 points mark.
It’s not just Burnley’s sheer dominance that has caught the eye, but their manner of performances like they are the mini version of Manchester City in England’s second-tier – that’s why Kompany is on Daniel Levy’s manager list.
But should the Belgian leave Turf Moor for Hotspur way, well Sky presenter Jeff Stelling thinks he has no choice, which Clinton Morrison agreed with, as they told Sky Sports News (01/04/23 at 12:15 pm).
“Another person on that list, Vincent Kompany,” said Morrison. “I was surprised at that.
“But he is doing ever so well at Burnley. Does he want to go and jump into that? I am not telling Vincent Kompany what to do. Tottenham is a huge football club. You would go there.”

Stelling responded: “Next season when Burnley are fourth or fifth from bottom in the Premier League. Who will remember what Vincent Kompany did this season? If he is going to go, isn’t now the time.”
Morrison responded: “It is the time to go now. It’s a big football club Tottenham. I know there is talk about Manchester City, but how long do you wait until Man City? Pep could stay for another three or four years.”
LONG-TERM MANAGER NEEDED
Style of play and long-term. Those are two boxes Daniel Levy needs to tick when bringing in a new face to be Tottenham’s next manager.
Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte have always been short-term managers, who deliver during their time at the club, other than Spurs.
But their style of play, especially what Conte produced, was a big talking point, so at the very least, the decision-makers, need to make sure the above two are delivered.
