Various people have complained online in 2023 that their hOn home appliance app is not working, and there appears to be no obvious fix as of yet.
As the old saying goes – technology is great, until it stops working. This a sentiment that many people who use the hOn home appliances app can feel themselves relating to in 2023.
HOn is an app that is designed to make your everyday life easier by allowing you to control your home devices, like your oven and your washing machine, through the tap of a button on your phone.
But on more than one occasion so far this year, many users have taken to social media to bemoan the fact that their hOn app is not working as it should be, so we asked the developers about what’s going on.
Users frustrated as hOn app not working for many
The most recent complaints with the hOn app appear to have surfaced on Twitter around April 9, 2023, and at the time of writing there has been no official statement from the app’s parent company, Candy.
The most common complaint seems to be that users are being met with an error message that states “There is a problem with the service”, despite the user being connected to wifi at the time.
One frustrated customer blasted the “garbage” app and claimed that the manual home operation product that comes along with the app was not working either.
Another dejected hOn user took to Twitter to claim he had tried the app “on Android, iOS on both WiFi and mobile data” to no avail.

Candy apologise for issues with hOn app
In response to the numerous complaints being made about hOn, we reached out to Candy, the manufacturing company that is responsible for the provision of the hOn app.
Regarding the ongoing issues, a representative for the company said: “I am sorry we are currently experiencing issues with the app our IoT (liaison and observation team) team have been informed of the issue and will aim to get this resolved as soon as possible”.
Unfortunately for those who are currently experiencing issues with their hOn app, the company only had one possible solution to offer, as they noted that “at the moment all we can advise is for customers to use the appliance via the control panel on the appliance itself.”
This means that, if your control panel isn’t working like the aforementioned user who complained that his wasn’t, it is unclear how or when your hOn app will be back up and running again.
Another possible solution
While it appears that the developers are still working on a solution for the service issue, some users have discovered a simple trick that appears to be worth trying.
If your hOn app is on an Android device, check on your settings if you have the latest version of the app installed.
The most recent update of the app appears to be version 1.38.4, and some customers have said their system is back working as normal now that they have installed it.
