Find out if there are train strikes on March 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd or 24th as the Rail, Marine and Transport union (RMT) calls more action.
The union is taking nationwide strike action across the railways starting on March 16 after employers failed to put any new offers on the table.
They rejected all offers in early February as they “did not meet the needs of members” on pay, job security, or working conditions.
The RMT is the UK’s biggest rail union with more than 40,000 members, so industrial action causes severe disruption and cancellations.

Are there train strikes on March 20th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd or 24th?
No. There are no train strikes in the fourth weeks of March at all, so your plans on Monday, March 20, Tuesday 21, Wednesday 22, Thursday 23, and Friday 24 are safe.
Trains should be running as usual on all of those days with no nationally planned delays, cancellations, or timetable amendments.
Check your local train operator’s website to see upcoming train times and use National Rail’s Journey Planner to plan your route.

All the upcoming strike dates in 2023
The RMT has called four strike days across March and April. These are:
- Thursday, March 16
- Saturday, March 18
- Thursday, March 30
- Saturday, April 1
Union members from 14 train operating companies will take strike action from 12.01am to 11.59pm on all of the above dates.
You should expect major delays and cancellations with no trains at all on some routes. Don’t travel on trains if possible.

Network Rail staff will also walk out from 2am on March 16 to 1.59am on March 17.
This new round of strike action comes following two days of walkouts at the start of February. The RMT called strikes on Wednesday, February 1, and Friday, February 3.
The strikes have been ongoing for more than eight months now, since June 2022, and there was heavy action during the festive period and in the first week of January.

TSSA accepts pay deal and ends strikes
The walkouts will continue until the RMT accepts a pay deal from rail bosses, which fellow transport union the TSSA has done this week.
Members voted to accept an offers from the Rail Delivery Group (RDG) and end the long-running dispute over pay and conditions.
“The incredible resolve we have seen from our members has resulted in a significantly improved pay deal over two years,” a union spokesperson said.
Specific details of the deal have not been revealed yet, but it also includes commitments for no compulsory redundancies and improved opportunities for redeployment.
Plus, workers will get full consultation over proposed reforms to ticket offices and any changes to terms and conditions.
However, the RMT and ASLEF are still in dispute with train operators. So, the rail strikes continue across Britain. Teachers are going on strike in March too.
