Crystal Palace now plan to replace Roy Hodgson with Steve Cooper at the end of the season – a coach who Marc Guehi rates very highly.
What’s the story?
Well – according to the Daily Mail – Crystal Palace aim to bring the Welshman to Selhurst Park once Hodgson’s brief stint as interim boss comes to an end this summer.
Steve Parish is on the hunt for a new long-term managerial option after sacking Patrick Vieira on Friday, before turning to the 75-year-old in a desperate attempt to avoid relegation.
Should the south Londoners manage to stay in the Premier League, it seems Cooper is the man they want – which should please Guehi.
The England international has previously worked under the 43-year-old in two different environments.
Guehi and Cooper won the Under-17 World Cup together with England, before the pair also worked alongside each other at Swansea as the Welshman took the defender on loan from Chelsea.

Speaking to the Daily Star about Cooper, the £18m Crystal Palace man said: “He’s had a massive impact. I think he’s a fantastic coach and a great person. He’s definitely someone that has helped me get to the point where I am. He really helped develop me as a player and he’s someone that, if I ever need anything, I can call – 100 percent.”

Clearly, Guehi would be a happy man if Crystal Palace did manage to lure the Pontypridd-born tactician away from Nottingham Forest.
Cooper arrival could keep Guehi at Crystal Palace
Guehi – according to Football London – is a target for Tottenham.
Fabio Paratici – Director of Football at Spurs – is said to be a huge fan of the Crystal Palace No.6 and is desperate to bring him to north London.
Presumably, Guehi feels a bit disillusioned about life at Selhurst Park following the appointment of Hodgson, which represents a huge step backwards for Crystal Palace, and he could look to leave depending on who arrives.
Therefore, if Cooper is the man who replaces Vieira on a more long-term basis, it could be crucial for Crystal Palace in terms of keeping Guéhi.
