Who is David Geffen?
David Geffen is a business magnate, philanthropist, and producer born to Jewish immigrants in Brooklyn. He celebrates his 80th birthday on February 21, 2023.
He took his first steps in the entertainment industry after working as a talent agent at the William Morris Agency and later at Ashley Famous Agency.
He set up Asylum Records in 1971 with Elliot Roberts, which signed a number of famous artists, including Bob Dylan, Eagles, and Joni Mitchell.
Geffen is also the founder of the record labels Geffen Records and DGC Records, as well as the production studio DreamWorks.
Forbes notes the businessman has a 2022 net worth of $10 billion and owns one of the most expensive properties in NYC, as well as a house in Hampton.

Family Guy‘s latest episode, season 21, episode 12, featured a joke about the entertainment mogul. The episode aired on February 19, 2023.

In the episode, Peter says that David Geffen has paid them $10 million so technically he now owns part of the Griffin family’s house.
“The lawyer said since he’s given us $10 million, he’s contractually entitled to have his name on part of the house,” Peter explains.
“That doesn’t seem fair,” Lois responds in a shocked face.
Peter agrees with Lois and says that they will continue the conversation on next week’s episode of the show, which is now called David Geffen’s Family Guy.
