Wolves, Sunderland and QPR looked at Anthony Barry recently and Thomas Tuchel has now confirmed that he hopes to lure the Chelsea coach away from the Premier League and to Bayern Munich.
Never afraid to speak his mind and never afraid to irritate, the fact that Julian Nagelsmann’s replacement managed to get his old employers’ backs up during his introducing press conference at the Allianz Arena was typical Tuchel, really.
Chelsea, Goal say, are ‘upset’ about the way the Champions League-winning boss is publicly courting a man who became one of his most trusted allies at Stamford Bridge.

“We’re hoping to add Anthony Barry, who is currently at Chelsea,” Tuchel admits.
Never change, Thomas.
Chelsea coach Anthony Barry could join Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich
Liverpool-born, 36-year-old Barry is one of the most highly-rated young coaches in European football. He, a la Mick Beale, Neil Critchley and co, has had opportunities to strike out on his own of late. But Barry appears content enough with a behind the scenes role despite the obvious temptations of ‘going solo’.
Wolverhampton Wanderers held talks with Barry back in October, per talkSPORT. Wolves also discussed Beale, who was then working alongside Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa, before landing Julen Lopetegui.
Barry also had Championship interest in the shape of QPR and Sunderland, according to The Mirror (30th November, page 51). The one-time Everton youth teamer rejected Huddersfield Town too, say The Sun.
He has also worked as an assistant coach not only at Chelsea but also for Portugal, Belgium and the Republic of Ireland.

“The biggest thing I noticed about Anthony was the work ethic,” explains Chris Brass; Wigan’s former head of football operations hailing a man who spent three years in Lancashire (Athletic).
“I’d rock up at 6am and he’d already be there. Then he’d ask to come with me to a night game, so he’d be getting home at midnight. He was a sponge. I thought there’s someone special here.”
Will Julian Nagelsmann replace Antonio Conte?
Nagelsmann, meanwhile, is reportedly in line to replace Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur. Simon Jordan, however, wonders if the nature of his departure from Bayern will put chairman Daniel Levy off.
“My first thought was, is that the next port of call for Daniel Levy? It depends what Levy wants to do,” Jordan tells talkSPORT of Nagelsmann.
The former RB Leipzig coach, like Tuchel, has a tendency to talk himself into trouble.
“Nagelsmann is a discussion they could have,” Jordan adds. “But if you’re talking about someone who is potentially prickly and problematic…
“If managers cannot work with the people they actually work for, it doesn’t matter how good you are. You’re always going to find yourself on the wrong side on an argument.”
