SCREAM Queen icon Dee Wallace was seen throwing a garage sale at her home in Los Angeles across the weekend.
The 76-year-old star dressed casually in a navy blue t-shirt and comfortable striped trousers as she set up tables and signs for the event.
Once onlookers started arriving, Dee greeted potential buyers and made conversation, laughing with some of them as she sold off some of her belongings.
She later took a break by hiding in the shade of the garage on an upholstered chair.
The star is unrecognisable from her long stint in a string of beloved movies across the 80s and 90s, most notably playing Mary Taylor – the more of Drew Barrymore’s Gerty and Henry Thomas’ Elliot in family adventure E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial.
The Steven Speilberg movie has since become an iconic staple, following a young alien who gets lost on Earth and befriends a lonely boy and his siblings.
Prior to the film, she became known as a ‘Scream Queen’ appearing in classics including the original adaptation of The Stepford Wives in 1975, 1977’s The Hills Have Eyes, and 1983’s Cujo – an adaptation of the Stephen King novel.
In 2007, she returned to the horror genre with a role in the 2007 reboot of Halloween.
To this day, Dee remains booked and busy, with no less than 15 planned projects in the pipeline in the next couple of years.
This includes If It Bleeds, another King adaptation; sci-fi TV series The Boroughs opposite Jena Malone and Geena Davis; festive film The Peppermint Twist; and a new horror The Licked Hand – where she plays a woman fighting for survival when a mental patient breaks into her home during a storm.
Because of her reputation within the horror genre, Dee is also a frequent star at horror-centric conventions, and still maintains happy memories of her time on E.T.
Speaking to SYFY back in 2022, Dee praised her on-screen children and noted how all of them felt like stars in the making.
She said: “I don’t remember it being chaotic at all. The kids were totally professional … they weren’t Hollywood kids. Most of them were just starting out.”
“Robert, [who played] the eldest son, had had a lot more experience, especially onstage, and he was just amazing,” she continued.
“Henry had a couple of films by that time underneath his belt, I think, and Drew was just, ‘HI! I’M DREW AND I’M GONNA TAKE OVER THE PLACE!’
“So whenever they had breaks, if they weren’t in school, they were out playing, shooting hoops, or in Steven’s office, playing with the arcade games he had.”
“It was very much a family feeling on the whole set and I think that really transfers to the the film,” she concluded.
