Harry Kane

Harry Kane looks destined to stay at Tottenham Hotspur this summer, former Premier League owner Simon Jordan tells talkSPORT (14 March, 11.30am), with Manchester City unlikely to renew their interest.

While stopping short of barricading the doors to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and tying the England international with cable ties to the dressing room bench, Daniel Levy will do everything in his power to prevent Kane from jilting Spurs and shacking up with another top-flight lover.

Kane’s contract expires in the summer of 2024. But if you thought the now-30-year-old striker would be available for a cut-price fee, think again. Tottenham, The Athletic say, are ‘not even contemplating’ letting their all-time record goalscorer go.

And, even if they were, there is not exactly a veritable throng clubs who fall in the middle of that Venn diagram; those who can both afford the £100 million-rated superstar, and those who need him.

Manchester City ticked both those boxes back in 2021, but have since brought in arguably the world’s greatest goalscorer; a certain Erling Haaland.

Will Harry Kane now stay at Tottenham Hotspur?

“Manchester City don’t need him now, so they are not going to buy him? Who is going to buy him?,” ex-Crystal Palace chairman Jordan asks.

“He is not going to go to Chelsea. That’s not going to happen. Definitely not going to Arsenal. Do you think he’s going to go to the Bundesliga? I don’t think so.

“Man United? Maybe. Manchester United and Tottenham have perhaps done deals in the past, with Berbatov and things of that nature. But I think there is a quiet, if not completely assured confidence, that Harry Kane will stay at Tottenham.”

Bayern Munich reportedly value Kane at closer to £45 million. Erik ten Hag’s Man United, meanwhile, appear to be edging towards younger, better value-for-money options such as Victor Osimhen and Goncalo Ramos.

“No one is going to pay £100 million for someone who is out of contract in a year’s time,” Jordan adds, believing that there are only ‘two options’ facing Kane now.

Either he signs a new deal, or leaves on a free 15 months from now.

“I don’t see Harry Kane going to PSG. It’s a circus over there. It’s been a circus for years. They win the French league and they win nothing else. I don’t see him landing at PSG. PSG might be an option but I don’t see it as a competitive football option.”
