Don Hutchison has praised Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak and how he is starting to cook under Eddie Howe at St James’ Park.
The former Premier League midfielder claimed that Alexander Isak looked ‘fragile’ when he first moved to Newcastle from Real Sociedad for a club-record transfer in the summer.
But, after a brace against Nottingham Forest on Friday night, including a stoppage-time penalty, Hutchison spoke about how Isak has an ‘immaculate’ first touch to his game.

That brace at the City Ground grew a lot of attention from many people outside of Newcastle, including Arsenal legend Martin Keown, who stated that with Isak you can do ‘special things’.
From the Sweden star’s ten Premier League games this season, he has six goals, which is pretty impressive when remembering that three of those appearances were from the bench.
Nonetheless, whilst the 23-year-old is getting many plaudits for what he is producing for Eddie Howe’s side, he has another fan in Don Hutchison, as he told Premier League Productions (20/03/23 at 4:45 pm).
“They have got him (Isak) fit and that’s all he needs,” said Hutchison. “When you have watched him over the last six months, he has looked a little bit fragile and trying to get up to the pace of the Premier League.

“He has always had the quality. That’s why he was brought. His first touch, I think for a centre-forward, is immaculate. He takes care of the ball and he has great feet. The way he sucks defenders in and how he is getting on the end of things.”

ISAK PUSHING CALLUM WILSON ASIDE
With Newcastle chasing Champions League football, the Toon Army faithful will be hoping someone like Isak can remain injury-free because, as he proved against Forest, he can be that match-winner.
What is also interesting is Isak pushing Callum Wilson to the bench, which is disappointing for the Englishman, but it makes Howe’s squad much stronger – Isak spoke about his relationship with the player.
But, for the long-term, Isak might just become the main guy for the Magpies.
