A surprise introduction of chicken nuggets to the KFC menu has sent netizens spinning and one thing people are curious about is the price.
While fast food franchise KFC might be best known for its popcorn chicken and finger-lickin’ good tenders, they’re switching up their deep-fried delights to include nuggets.
The bite-sized golden nugs are making their way onto KFC menus across the United States from March 27, 2023. This has been a divisive move after removing popcorn chicken from branches last month.
Let’s take a look at how the new menu item’s price point compares with the old classics.

How much do KFC chicken nuggets cost?
Prices for the new KFC chicken nuggets start at $3.49 for a 5-piece box. The price increases are dependent on how many nugs you’re after.
The nuggets are available in 5-, 8-, 12-, or 36-piece boxes. They are currently only available at participating KFC branches. Some branches report that they have a 24-piece box available, with the 36-piece only available online.
An 8-piece combo comes in at $8.12. This not only includes eight nuggets but a drink, biscuit, and fries.
Price of new nuggets compared with KFC classics
When looking at the price point of the new nuggets with some old favorites, they cost a similar amount to the fan favorites.
A popcorn chicken combo was previously sold for $5.49. A large popcorn chicken order, not as a combo, costs just $3.99.
You could also get a 5-piece box of chicken tenders, two sides, and a drink for $7.99 in their Big Box Meals.

This spring also sees KFC bring back their Mac Bowls, which cost just $5. They have now replaced the popcorn chicken on the mac ‘n cheese feast with their new nugget recipe.
‘We want popcorn chicken back’
Despite some fast food lovers being excited about the new addition to KFC’s menu, some remain disappointed that the chain has removed popcorn chicken from its branches.
Popcorn chicken, a peppery popcorn-sized nugget, has been a staple of the fast food chain since they pioneered the chickeny snack in the 1990s. But last month, five fan-favorite items were announced to be culled from the menu. This included the signature popcorn chicken.
“Y’all they changed the popcorn chicken on the KFC bowl to like nuggets and it’s not the same,” one Twitter user commented after the menu change.
