The animated version of Snow White introduced the first Disney princess in 1937.

In 2025, the story will be reimagined as Rachel Zegler, 22, will portray Snow White and on Friday, fans got a first look at what they can expect from the motion picture.
Gal Gadot will take on the role of the villain, The Evil Queen.
In the pic, the Westside Story actress sat on a chair in a small cottage surrounded by the seven dwarfs: Doc, Sleepy, Dopey, Grumpy, Bashful, Happy, and Sneezy.
However, many Disney fans aren’t too thrilled.
‘WE WILL NOT BE WATCHING’
In the comment section of a tweet posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, fans shared their thoughts – and didn’t hold back.
“This looks like a horror movie,” one fan admitted.
A second added: “We will not be watching.”
“This is one of the classics they should’ve left alone,” a third said.
A fourth user wrote: “This looks so creepy I’m sorry.”
“That seems to be made by AI,” claimed a fifth.
THE BACKLASH
The billion-dollar company received a wave of negative comments after casting Rachel as the main character in 2021.
The Hollywood actress faced several comments from racist and harsh trolls claiming that she wasn’t right for the role as she is of Colombian and Polish descent and – in their eyes – doesn’t fit the character’s historic description of having “skin as white as snow.”
At the time, she took to social media to share: “Yes I am snow white no i am not bleaching my skin for the role.”
The tweet has since been deleted but she later added: “DO YOU FEEL THE CONTROVERSY COMING????”
Other fans were thrilled at the casting announcement and were excited for the film.
In July 2023, Rachel tweeted that she was appriciative of the fans who are defending her from trolls, but asked to not be tagged in posts discussing her casting.

“I really, truly do not want to see it,” she wrote and changed the subject by showing childhood photos of her enjoying Disney.
‘WEIRD. WEIRD.’
Many fans wanted Rachel to be fired from the film after what she said about the original movie.
While attending the D23 Expo in 2022, the young actress was asked about the movie, she explained that it had more of a “modern edge.”
“The original cartoon came out in 1937 and evidently so,” she said in an interview with ExtraTV, “There’s a big focus on her love story, with a guy who literally stalks her.
“Weird. Weird. So we didn’t do that this time… We have a different approach to what I’m sure a lot of people will assume is a love story just because we cast a guy in the movie.”
She continued: It’s one of those things that I think everyone’s going to have their assumptions about what it’s actually going to be, but it’s really not about the love story at all, which is really, really wonderful.”
‘MODERNIZING’ SNOW WHITE
In an interview with Variety, Rachel was asked to elaborate on what she meant when she said the movie had a “modern edge.”
“I just mean that it’s no longer 1937. We absolutely wrote a Snow White that she’s not going to be saved by the prince, and she’s not going to be dreaming about true love.
“She’s dreaming about becoming the leader she knows she can be and the leader that her late father told her that she could be if she was fearless, fair, brave, and true.”
She went on in more interviews to discuss the role further and admitted to Entertainment Weekly that she has only seen the original a few times and calls it “extremely dated when it comes to the ideas of women being in roles of power and what a woman is fit for in the world.”
Fans of Disney were not happy with her comments.
One critic said: “Just fire her and be done with it!”
“Disney should use CGI to replace Rachel Zegler,” said another.
A-LISTER COMMENTS
Peter Dinklage, well known for his role in Game of Thrones, spoke out against the live-action movie.
He accused the studio of double standards for striving for racial diversity while continuing other stereotypes.
The star, who has a form of dwarfism, said: “I was a little taken aback by the fact they were very proud to cast a Latina actress as Snow White — but you’re still telling the story of the Seven Dwarfs.
“You’re progressive in one way but you’re still making that f*****g backward story of seven dwarfs living in the cave.
“Have I done nothing to advance the cause from my soapbox? I guess I’m not loud enough.”
