'Discipline issues': Director makes claim about manager's sacking as Tottenham talks targeted

Tottenham Hotspur want Julian Nagelsmann but Bayern Munich are now claiming some ‘discipline’ problems under his management.

Seeing chaos at Bayern feels a little strange, but chaos to them is not running away with the Bundesliga title.

Nagelsmann has now paid the price with his job after an up-and-down 2023, with Bayern unceremoniously sacking him on Friday.

Bayern had already been speaking to Thomas Tuchel for days before the official exit, teeing up his arrival.

Tuchel is in and Nagelsmann is out after a whirlwind few days, but the 35-year-old could make a very quick return to management.

The Telegraph claim that Tottenham are now seeking talks with Nagelsmann in an attempt to make him their new manager.

Antonio Conte seems to be on his way out of Tottenham in the very near future and Nagelsmann would seem like an exciting replacement.

Spurs have though been warned about life with Nagelsmann in charge.

Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has today spoken about Nagelsmann and was pretty honest with his comments.

As quoted by 90Min, Salihamidzic stated that there were real problems with discipline under Nagelsmann.

The Bosnian did note that Nagelsmann is a ‘very good coach’ but reiterated that there were real problems inside the Bayern dressing room.

“Of course there were problems – and we had a few discipline issues. Julian Nagelsmann is a very good coach. But we had a few problems,” he said.

Salihamdizic of course didn’t name any names but it’s clear that the Bayern hierarchy weren’t impressed.

There have been murmurings that Nagelsmann never really connected with veterans like Thomas Muller and Manuel Neuer.

This is all part of the development for a young coach though and it’s easy to forget that Nagelsmann is still only 35.

Nagelsmann started so young and was in his first truly huge job as a manager after spells at Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig.

Nagelsmann will hope to learn from that situation at Bayern and come back stronger in his next job.

Tottenham likely won’t be put off by the manner of Nagelsmann’s Bayern exit but it’s something for Daniel Levy to think about if talks do take place.
