Jamie Carragher has made a comment about Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita as the pair get set to leave Liverpool.
What’s the story?
Well, both the England international and the Guinea international see their contracts expire in July, and Liverpool seemingly have no intention of handing either of them fresh terms.
It was Fabrizio Romano who revealed that Oxlade-Chamberlain and Keita are set to leave Anfield.
Now, Carragher has shared his thoughts on their respective careers at Liverpool when writing a column for the Telegraph.
When dissecting Jürgen Klopp’s stale midfield department, the 45-year-old wrote: “The contract situations and age profiles of senior players spelt that out. Jordan Henderson has been a fantastic servant, but at 32 there was always a possibility the burden of recent years would take its toll.
“The same is true of Fabinho, who is approaching his 30th birthday. Thiago Alcantara is a class player but often injured. James Milner, now 37, was out of contract last summer, but signed for another season. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Keita are in the final year of their deals after disappointing Liverpool careers.”

Disappointing is an understatement.
Oxlade-Chamberlain & Keita waste of Liverpool’s money
In fairness to Oxlade-Chamberlain, he was dynamite in his debut season for Liverpool before suffering a serious knee injury towards the end of that 2017/18 campaign.
Keita also showed flashes of excellence at the beginning, although both have truly fizzled out.
Oxlade-Chamberlain was signed for £40m whereas Keita cost £53m.

£93m worth of talent should not just give you one decent season before mediocrity takes over.
Liverpool must also ensure they do their homework on the injury history of anybody they sign from this point on, as Oxlade-Chamberlain and Keita have barely been available in recent times.
The latter has missed 84 games in total for Liverpool due to injury, while Oxlade-Chamberlain has missed 88.
Hopefully, Liverpool learn their lesson from these two failed signings.
