Mohammed Kudus has admitted that was he disappointed with Ajax for blocking his summer transfer to Everton.
The Ghanaian international well and truly rose to fame after showcasing his exceptional talent at the World Cup. At the time, it seemed like Frank Lampard’s side were set to sign a potentially elite player, at least in the future.
But as Mohammed Kudus went on to stay at Ajax, he has reflected on his failed move to Everton.
Ajax midfielder Kudus admits disappointment over failed Everton move
The £40 million-rated ‘machine’ has showcased his incredible talent across the pitch, whether that is as a box-to-box midfielder, in an advanced No.8 position or even as a striker, which would have made him a stunning coup for the Toffees.
But as Mohammed Ajax ended up staying at Ajax, he admits how gutted he was that a potential transfer to Everton failed to get over the line.

“The fact that Ajax blocked a transfer to Everton last summer disappointed me. I thought it was time for a new chapter in my career, because I didn’t play here”, he told De Telegraaf.

“But the moment the transfer market closed, my full focus was back on Ajax. The only reason I wanted to leave before that was my reserve role.”
“I eliminated that reason [reserve role] myself. Everton are not doing well in the Premier League, Ajax are in the title race and under John Heitinga I am a permanent fixture.”
While some may assume Mohammed Kudus could leave Ajax to join Everton in the summer if they escape relegation, he has confirmed that he has no intentions to do so.
“I have a strong faith in God and he has made the positive decision for me not to let the transfer go through.”
“I am very happy at Ajax at the moment, but I will be even happier if we win the double. But why wouldn’t I want to renew? I play and develop well. Now it’s about negotiation and valuation. When the time is right, we’ll see how it goes. But that will have to be conducted with my agent. I want to focus entirely on the title race.”
