‘Different level’: Premier League boss absolutely blown away by Arteta

Brendan Rodgers has hailed Arsenal after watching the Gunners beat his Leicester City side 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.

1-0 might not look like a particularly dominant win for Arsenal.

Yet the Gunners had 66% of possession and limited Leicester to just one shot – which was off target.

Arsenal only needed one goal to win it and it came from Gabriel Martinelli just seconds after the break.

Rodgers was certainly impressed and heaped praise on Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side after the final whistle.

Rodgers told Sky Sports that Arsenal were ‘on a different level’ to Leicester in terms of their technical ability.

The Leicester boss stopped short of predicting a Premier League title win but does think that Arsenal will go very close.

“I think they are going to go very close,” said Rodgers when asked if Arsenal can in the title. “Outstanding, I think they’ve been that throughout the season. The scoreboard was obviously close but in terms of football and technical quality they were on a different level to us, so I think that they will go very close,” he added.

Brendan Rodgers absolutely right about Arsenal

Rodgers knows a thing or two about technically-excellent football.

He has had his doubters over the years but Swansea City, Liverpool, Celtic and Leicester teams always played great football.

Rodgers can really appreciate what Arsenal are doing this season and clearly feels that Mikel Arteta deserves massive praise.

Arsenal are not only outstanding on the ball but their work off the ball has been exemplary all season too.

From the pressing up top to the breakneck speed Arsenal show to get back into position defensively, Arsenal aren’t just pretty on the eye – they’re willing to put in the hard yards too.

There is still a long way to go in the title race but Arsenal are playing football to rival Manchester City.

Saturday’s win was another step towards the title and earning some praise from a rival manager will feel great for Arteta and co, whose work is receiving the deserved plaudits.
