Dion Dublin has singled Jordan Pickford out for praise after Everton lost 2-0 away to Manchester United. But he felt the Toffees gave Saturday’s match to the Red Devils.
Goals from Scott McTominay (36’) and Anthony Martial (71’) in either half settled the affair at Old Trafford. But Manchester United could have scored throughout the meeting but for an impressive performance by Pickford with Everton often having to rely on their goalkeeper.
Pickford almost single-handily kept the scoreline at 1-0 by half-time as Manchester United peppered the Everton goal. McTominay eventually found a way to beat the 29-year-old as Jadon Sancho fed the Scotland international after the Toffees had failed to clear their lines.

Martial later made it 2-0 as Marcus Rashford found the Frenchman unmarked. But the goal came from Seamus Coleman miscontrolling a long ball and leaving Rashford to punish the right-back’s error. Pickford could do little more to stop Martial from firing United’s second.
Jordan Pickford still impresses as Everton suffer a 2-0 defeat at Manchester United
Manchester United forced Pickford into action early on at home to Everton this Saturday. The Red Devils took advantage of the Toffees’ poor defending but Pickford was out quick to deny Rashford a header. Antony then forced another important stop from the goalkeeper.

Rashford, Antony and Bruno Fernandes often probed Pickford’s goal but to no avail as the Everton ace food firm. The 52-cap England international’s display was a Man of the Match-worthy effort. And it would earn Pickford praise from ex-Manchester United striker Dublin.
“Manchester United had chance after chance,” Dublin told the BBC’s Final Score. “Jordan Pickford did very well. In the end, United put them away. Everton allowed United to get through them so easily. A tricky game but a very good win.”
Pickford has now conceded 43 goals over his 29 Premier League appearances so far this season after Everton’s defeat at Manchester United. He has also only kept one clean sheet against Brentford on March 11 during the goalkeeper’s past seven top-flight appearances.
