Earlier in the night Alexa Grasso caused a major upset by beating women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko. The Mexican tapped out titleholder Shevchenko in the fourth round to claim the title after being down on the judges scorecards.
Jake Gyllenhaal took part in UFC 222: Harris vs Dalton fight
The event was unusual in its build up as it was used to promote a remake of the classic movie Roadhouse. Jake Gyllenhaal and UFC vet Jay Hieron star in the upcoming Amazon Prime film and used UFC 285 to film footage for the movie.
Earlier in the week both men weighed-in at the ceremonial weigh-ins, with Gyllenhaal in particular looking ripped. A backdrop displaying ‘UFC 222: Harris vs. Dalton’ came out as the two squared off, right after Conor McGregor, who is a co-star in the film, came out promoting it.
The film doesn’t have a release date as it stands but it expected to arrive later this year. Throughout the evening Gyllenhaal was sat next to McGregor.

Naturally, fans wanted to know if Jake Gyllenhaal ‘won’ his UFC fight.
Gyllenhaal, who is playing Dalton in the film, did indeed ‘win’ the fight, after both he and Hieron were given official introductions by Bruce Buffer. Experienced UFC referee Chris Tognoni was also officiating the faux fight.
Jake showed off his acting chops with a series of big punches that sent Heiron stumbling backwards. He then launched into Hieron with an uppercut and a flying knee kick before finishing him off with some ground and pound.
Tognoni then had to hold Gyllenhaal away as he attempted to land yet more blows on his downed opponent.
The mock fight wasn’t shown on the main broadcast but various bits of footage from inside Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena circulated on social media.
