Crystal Palace wanted to sign Ilaix Moriba back in 2022 as Patrick Vieira attempted to improve his midfield department.
It was Foot Mercato who revealed that the south Londoners were keen to bring the Guinea international to Selhurst Park.
However, Crystal Palace ended up losing out as Valencia signed Moriba on loan once again – the second time the Spanish side have loaned him since his £14m move to RB Leipzig from Barcelona in August 2021.
Now – however – the Eagles have a golden chance to finally get their man.
What’s the story?
Well, Moriba will return to RB Leipzig in July when his loan spell at Valencia ends.
However, it seems the 20-year-old is not wanted in Germany.
Max Eberl – Director of Football at RB Leipzig – told LVZ Talk: “I don’t want any player who doesn’t want to play for Leipzig.”

Clearly, there are some issues between Moriba and RB Leipzig, and it seems as if the Bundesliga side will look to sell their £14m man this summer.
Crystal Palace should explore Moriba move
In our view, this could be a chance for Crystal Palace to secure themselves a bargain.

Despite Vieira no longer holding the reins at Selhurst Park, Moriba is a target they should persist with.
The Guinean has plenty of potential, and was regarded as one of the next big things to emerge from Barcelona’s famous La Masia, where the likes of Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Xavi emerged.
Unfortunately, Moriba’s career has stalled a bit since leaving the Camp Nou, but that doesn’t mean he can’t get himself back on track at the age of just 20.
With Crystal Palace still in need of a Conor Gallagher replacement and midfield reinforcements in general, they must enquire about Moriba’s availability this summer after Eberl effectively told him to leave RB Leipzig.
