A 1970s puppet show titled Welcome Home is currently going viral on TikTok as fans discover a creepy alternate reality game uncovering the mysteries of the children’s show.

The Sesame Street-esque characters appear to be colorful and exaggerated but a new Welcome Home fandom is set on unraveling the dark truths behind the show. Welcome Home is Playfellow Workshop’s only production and fans are keen to know where the horror element came from.

Whilst the fandom site is still in its early stages of development, fans are having a good go at unpicking the story. Let’s take a look at where the TikTok trend originates from.

TikTok trend revives creepy 1970s puppet show

Welcome Home is an alternate reality game by Clown Illustrations, about a long-lost puppet show from the 1970s.

An ARG is an interactive fictional online story, which tells itself through a series of puzzles and is often horror-themed. The website has been created by anonymous conceptual artists who have replicated the feel of the children’s show on their ARG.

Welcome Home’s site uncovers a dark mystery beneath the childhood show. YouTube account, Night Mind, has done a breakdown of the hidden Easter eggs within the site.

Users have been uncovering pages of hidden content and Night Mind does a great job of navigating the site. One hidden page on the site labeled “So Below,” displays the main character, Wally, kneeling with blood in his eyes. Whilst the website introduces itself as an archive of the children‘s production, it also digs deeper into the creepy meanings behind the puppets.

What is Welcome Home?

Welcome Home was an American children’s puppet show. Its first episode aired in 1969 and the skits usually began with a character called Wally introducing the theme for the day.

However, the show was abruptly pulled from the air in 1974, and no footage of the show is known to exist. However, their anonymous fandom is working to uncover any information they have on it.

Some believe that in uncovering the production they will find some fascinating, and horrifying discoveries. Fans love coming across missing content, when viewers found Lazy Town’s lost episode it went viral online. Welcome Home is just the lates production to gain a fandom!

TikTok fans react to Welcome Home’s viral trend

The TikTok trend has had fans questioning whether there are any hidden meanings behind their other favorite childhood shows.

Others are hoping that no more of their childhood shows enter the horror genre. After all, we only recently lost Winnie The Pooh to the realm of indie horror flicks. Pooh, will star in the horror movie, Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey.
