Michael Dawson has hit out at the few Tottenham Hotspur fans who booed Davinson Sanchez against AFC Bournemouth. A number of their fans jeered at his substitution.
Caretaker manager Cristian Stellini introduced Sanchez in the 35th minute of their Premier League match on Saturday. But the Spurs coach would later hook the defender in the 58th after falling 2-1 behind. Tottenham had led 1-0 before losing Clement Lenglet to an injury.
Bournemouth equalised shortly after Stellini introduced Sanchez and the centre-half was at fault to a degree for Tottenham conceding. Pedro Porro lost possession soon after receiving the ball off the Colombian. Matias Vina would start and finish the Cherries’ counter-attack.

Sanchez was involved to a degree in Bournemouth’s first two goals at Tottenham
Sanchez’s tough afternoon continued during the second half as Bournemouth took the lead at Tottenham. Porro’s attempted clearance fell kindly to Dominic Solanke, who played it out wide to Marcus Tavernier. The winger would twist and turn Sanchez before finding Solanke.
Stellini gave Tottenham a chance to settle after falling behind before hooking Sanchez. The 26-year-old made way for an attacking change with Arnaut Danjuma entering the action in a change of formation. But some of the home Tottenham crowd booed Sanchez as he left.

Dawson slams the Spurs fans who booed their own defender on Saturday
The few Tottenham fans who booed Sanchez against Bournemouth frustrated former Spurs captain Dawson. He voiced his upset on Sky Sports News (15/04, 14:33) and noted how the £42m arrival from Ajax in August 2017 looked void of confidence as he sat on their bench.
Dawson said: “He was brought on late in the first half for the injury to Lenglet. It wasn’t even his fault for the first goal, he played it out to Pedro Porro. Pedro Porro loses the ball [and the] goal then happens. Second goal, it ricochets and it goes into the feet of Solanke.

“However, Cristian Stellini has made the change and he’s been brought off. No problem, that happens. But what I don’t like is when your own fans boo you and I feel for Sanchez because that’s awful for a player. His confidence looked shot.
“Danjuma’s come on. Yes, they’ve changed formation, so you have to take someone off. He took it really well, he sat down [but] he’ll be hurting and that’s not nice to see.”

Sanchez has only held a bit-part role in Tottenham’s plans so far this season and continued to play a backup role against Bournemouth. The 52-cap international has only started six of his 15 Premier League appearances. He had also only played 13 minutes since February 11.
Antonio Conte handed Sanchez his last top-flight start on October 29 while still in charge of Spurs. The Colombian opened the game at Bournemouth as Spurs won 3-2. But Conte also replaced Sanchez in the 57th minute on the south coast having just replied to make it 2-1.
Stellini’s decision to introduce Danjuma for Sanchez as Tottenham hosted Bournemouth on Saturday briefly paid off, though. The Dutchman on loan from Villarreal drew Spurs level in the 88th minute. But Dango Ouattara later restored the Cherries’ lead in the 95th minute.
