Liverpool star Cody Gakpo has opened up on advice from Andy Robertson just before he opened the scoring against Manchester United.
United were looking dangerous in the first half of Sunday’s clash at Anfield but Liverpool took the lead.
Gakpo darted in behind an out-of-position Fred before cutting inside Raphael Varane and smashing a superb strike past David De Gea.
What unfolded from there was complete chaos as Liverpool ran riot to rack up a 7-0 thrashing of their bitter rivals.
Gakpo doubled his tally in the second half, beautifully dinking home in front of the Kop having been played in by Mohamed Salah.
This was a dream Anfield display for Gakpo, who just had to score against United.
Gakpo was linked with a big move to United for months on end before Liverpool swooped in to hijack the deal.
That’s now four goals in Gakpo’s last five Premier League games and the 23-year-old appears to be finding his feet in English football.

The first goal against United was a real thing of beauty and exactly what Liverpool are expecting to see.
Gakpo has now told Liverpool’s official website that he felt the assist from Andy Robertson was truly ‘amazing’.
Gakpo added that Robertson had pulled him just before that goal that he should ‘go in behind’ United’s defence.
With Diogo Dalot out of position and Fred filling in, Gakpo darted in to score.
Gakpo noted that Liverpool have been working on this in training, so it was great to see the hard work pay off against United.
“It was amazing,” said Gakpo. “I was on the side, even he told me, ‘Go in behind.’ Then I made the run, he gave a brilliant pass, I just had to take a touch inside. We practised this kind of thing a lot in training, so it’s nice that you score something like that,” he added.
Liverpool fans will now hope to see more of the Robertson and Gakpo connection going forward, with a top four place now within reach.
