Chupa soundtrack: An exploration of niche Mexican anthems and original music

Nothing sets the tone for a film quite like the music featured throughout. Netflix’s latest family-friendly endeavor Chupa features a soundtrack full of ambient and endearing music, providing the perfect anthems for a wholesome adventure.

The Netflix original film follows a teenage boy during a family trip to Mexico, where he encounters a strange creature, a young chupacabra. Found in his grandpa’s shed, teenage Alex quickly befriends the fluffy creature.

However, all is not as it seems, as Alex and his cousins must embark on an epic adventure to save their new mythical friend while a secret family history is revealed to Alex and an evil scientist seeks to hunt down the adorable Chupa.

Starring Christian Slater as the dangerous scientist Richard Quinn, and Evan Whitten in the role of teenage Alex, Chupa promises to be a fun time for the whole family.

Chupa made its way onto the streaming platform Netflix on Friday, April 7, 2023.

Netflix releases full original score

With a soundtrack so sweet, and the feature of original music, it’s no surprise the streaming giant Netflix has opted to release the film’s music as a full album.

The album is made up of the original score featured throughout the film, composed by the Emmy Award-winning Carlos Rafael Rivera. He is known for his many impressive works on other productions such as The Queen’s Gambit and A Walk Among The Tombstones.

The tracklist featured in the album naturally includes the original song Siempe Volaré (En Tus Sueños) written by Rivera & director Jonás Cuarón and performed by Julieta Venegas.

The Chupa soundtrack is available to stream on Spotify.
