Charles Barkley fired an incredibly subtle dig at Kendrick Perkins on Inside the NBA, and fans were loving the MVP joke.
For many Inside the NBA is the TV highlight of the week. The multi-award winning TNT show is one of the funniest shows on television and features Ernie Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley covering NBA action while generally having a load of fun together.
For many, Charles is the MVP of the show. Barkley is never one to shy away from controversy and always says things how they are.
His quick wit and ability to get away with saying things other people simply can’t is unparalleled, and has made him a fan favorite over the years.

Charles Barkley fires incredibly subtle dig at Kendrick Perkins on Inside the NBA
On Thursday’s (9 March) episode of Inside the NBA, Jamal Crawford was standing in for the absent Kenny Smith. At one point in the evening the crew were discussing the Milwaukee Bucks, who had just beaten the Brooklyn Nets.
The panel had the Bucks down as the favorites to come out of the East and make it to the NBA Finals.
Shaq then went one further and said Giannis was his MVP.
Charles then quickly responded, “You’re only voting for him because he’s Black.”
The entire crew then burst into fits of laughter. “I saw it on the internet, it must be true,” Barkley added.
You can watch the joke from around 2:35 in the video below:

However, some fans didn’t understand Charles Barkley’s shot at Kendrick Perkins and need an explanation. Earlier this week, Perkins made the suggestion on ESPN’s First Take that race plays a role in NBA MVP voting when it comes to Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic.
Perkins pointed out that there has been three MVP winners that finished outside the top scorer’s list since the early 90s, and that all of them were white.
Perkins and JJ Redick got into a heated debate over the topic, with Redick blasting the show for allowing false narratives to be pushed.
Charles Barkley calls Perkins’ take “asinine and silly”
After the debate on First Take, Barkley joined Denver sports radio hosts Vic Lombardi, Marc Moser and Brett Kane on their show where he called Perkins’ take “one of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard.”
“That’s asinine and silly,” Barkley said of Perkins’ take. “Asinine, silly and stupid. Pick one of the words, whatever one you want.”
“A lot of these guys, when they get on TV and stuff, they’re like, ‘Well, I’m on ESPN, I got to say something provocative.’ And you know the thing about it, you’re always gonna get some fools out there, you guys probably get some fools calling in agreeing with him.”
