Paul Barber has stated that replacements are in place in case Brighton & Hove Albion have to sell Arsenal transfer target Kaoru Mitoma.
The Brighton CEO used Leandro Trossard as an example and how Kaoru Mitoma was ‘already in the building’ when the Belgian star left for Arsenal during the January transfer window.
Well, the Champions League-chasing club haven’t missed him too much because Mitoma is flying on the left flank and Paul Barber added that the club’s head of recruitment, Sam Jewell, is ‘already working’ on replacements if certain players are sold.

Unfortunately, for Brighton, that has become the norm, including this summer when they lost Marc Cucurella to Chelsea, Neal Maupay to Everton, Yves Bissouma to Tottenham, and later on, manager Graham Potter to Chelsea.
It’s crazy that every single one of them has struggled since leaving, no more so than Potter getting booted out of Chelsea after seven months – Frank Lampard has come in until the end of the season to replace him.
Nonetheless, with Arsenal keen on Mitoma (90Min), the club’s CEO spoke about what he was told about the player from within the club, as he told Premier League Productions.
“Mitoma was the one the chairman was most excited about,” said Barber. “He said to me ‘Paul, this player is special, he could be anything he wants to be in the Premier League’.
On if a team calls in for Mitoma, have they got a replacement waiting: “That’s the job and that’s the challenge. Sam Jewell, the son of Paul Jewell, of course, an experienced Premier League manager himself, is our head of recruitment. Sam is already working on the possibility of losing different players in the squad and that’s his job.

“A lot of people make the mistake that the transfer window operates from the start of the window until the end of the window. It’s a 365-day-year process, the transfer window.
“We were able to sell Trossard during the January window to Arsenal, partly because Mitoma was already in the building. One of the other tricks is to make sure you already have somebody in the building, who are there ready to replace the person who is already going out.”

MITOMA SHINING BRIGHT-ON
From teenager superstar Evan Ferguson to dribbling master, Karou Mitoma.
This Brighton side is full of quality, forward-thinking players and gems from across the globe. All of which is a credit to the club’s recruitment.
Perhaps, it’s a warning to the players about leaving when the so-called bigger clubs come knocking because, other than Trossard, every other player that has left since the summer has struggled in their new surroundings.
