Carrie Underwood ‘humbled’ to be part of Donald Trump’s inauguration as American Idol star shares hope for ‘unity’

CARRIE Underwood has spoken out about her upcoming performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration.

The country star was announced to sing America the Beautiful at the president-elect’s second inauguration on January 20.

Underwood, 41, confirmed the news on Monday.

“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” she said in a statement to USA Today.

“I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”

Underwood will perform after Vice President-elect JD Vance is sworn in by Brett Kavanaugh following another performance by opera tenor Christopher Macchio.

She’ll be joined by the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club during the performance.

After she sings America the Beautiful, Trump will be sworn in as the 47th president of the United States.

Disco group Village People, best known for their hit song YMCA, will also perform at the inauguration.

‘NOBODY WINS’

Underwood has never publicly endorsed Trump.

She revealed her reasons for staying out of politics in a 2019 interview with The Guardian.

“I feel like more people try to pin me places politically,” she told the outlet.

Carrie Underwood’s American Idol salary revealed – and it’s millions less than ex-judge Katy Perry’s massive paycheck

“I try to stay far out of politics if possible, at least in public, because nobody wins. It’s crazy.

“Everybody tries to sum everything up and put a bow on it like it’s black and white. And it’s not like that.”

NO SURPRISES

Despite Underwood’s previous silence about her personal views, country music fans were somehow unfazed by the news of her upcoming performance.

“Are you all really surprised about Carrie Underwood performing at the inauguration?!? Please,” one wrote on X.

“Anyone who is surprised or shocked about the news that Carrie Underwood is performing at Tr*mp’s inauguration just wasn’t paying attention,” another added.

Carrie Underwood’s Family

The American Idol winner had relationships with Chace Crawford and Tony Romo but she ultimately walked down the aisle with Mike Fisher.

Mike is a Canadian retired hockey player from Peterborough, Ontario.

In October 1999, Fisher made his NHL debut with the Ottawa Senators.

He played for the Senators until he was traded to the Nashville Predators.

One of the reasons he agreed to the trade was so he could be close to his wife Carrie.

On December 20, 2009, Carrie and her former hockey captain hubby announced their engagement.

On July 10, 2010, Carrie Underwood and Mike tied the knot after almost two years of dating.

More than 250 people were in attendance at their wedding ceremony at The Ritz-Carlton Lodge in Greensboro, Georgia.

Carrie’s engagement ring from Mike features a yellow diamond and was valued at $150K.

In February 2015, the couple welcomed their first child; a son named Isaiah.

In January 2019, the singer and the pro athlete expanded their family further with the birth of their second son Jacob.

“The signs were there,” a third shared.

“And when it comes to Carrie Underwood, disappointed but not surprised. Jesus take the wheel indeed,” another wrote.

Despite staying quiet about her personal views, Underwood sang a parody of her hit song Before He Cheats poking fun at Trump’s tweets while co-hosting the 2017 CMA Awards with Brad Paisley.

Underwood rose to fame after winning the fourth season of American Idol in 2005.

The singer is replacing Katy Perry as the third judge on the upcoming season of American Idol.
