Speaking on the Highbury Squad YouTube channel, Kevin Campbell has been talking about Arsenal and squad rotation in the Europa League.
The Gunners are right in the middle of a title race, and the Europa League represents something of an unnecessary distraction for the Gunners at this moment in time.
Campbell says that he’s open to rotating the squad in the Europa League, stating that he would like to see Jakub Kiwior potentially make his debut against Sporting after some ‘very dominant’ performances for the U23s.
Kiwior to debut soon
Campbell spoke about rotating the squad.
“A lot of fans want to make six or seven changes for the first game against Sporting. I want to get your take. The emphasis is on the league, is that where you’re at and you rest players for the Europa League? One thing that came up was Gabriel and Saliba, do you really want Rob Holding to come in who hasn’t been great, do you put Ben White as the centre-back? What are you doing Kev?” Campbell was asked.

“You have a squad of players there all capable of playing. We haven’t seen Kiwior yet. He’s come in and I believe he has played in the U23s and has looked very dominant. This is what the squad is for. Yes we want to win, but this is the part of the season where just to get a start you have to perform,” Campbell said.
What he was signed for
Kiwior was signed to be a defensive depth option, and the Europa League represents a perfect time to unleash the Polish international.
Saliba and Gabriel will need a rest if they’re going to maintain their levels for the Premier League run-in, and as Campbell says, Kiwior is there and ready to step in.
Don’t be shocked if you see the centre-back making his Arsenal debut before too long.
