BTS is currently on a group hiatus and the Grammy-nominated group’s contract renewal with HYBE is making headlines after a press release from HYBE founder Bang Si Hyuk. Before the contract of the biggest K-pop group in the world ends, let’s look at when the BTS contract expires and all we know about its renewal.
As per BTS‘ label BigHit Music, all members of Bangtan Sonyeondan will go through their mandatory military service enlistment and come back as a group in 2025. Meanwhile, BTS members will pursue their solo music careers and other passion projects.

When does BTS’ contract expire?
BTS renewed its contract in 2018 which will reportedly expire in 2026. While reports suggest that BTS’ contract will end in 2026, fans predict that renewal talks will begin soon in 2024, marking the agreement’s six years mark.
Many K-pop groups end up renewing their contract early within six years. So all eyes are on BTS to see if the group will be going for an early renewal or not in 2024.

BigHit Music founder Bang Si Hyuk talks BTS’ renewal status
BigHit Music founder Bang Si Hyuk discussed BTS’ contract renewal status in a recent press conference. The 50-year-old music mogul revealed, “We still have time left (until the contract ends). We’ll discuss (with the members) within the time, and I believe it will be right for us to speak about it after the discussion ends.”
He further talked about the K-pop group’s comeback plan saying, “We said we ‘hope’ the members can resume in 2025, not ‘will.’ BTS and the firm will both work for it, but it doesn’t mean we can target then(2025).”

The speculation regarding if BTS will be renewing their contract with HYBE has surfaced on the Internet as BTS ARMY talks about all sorts of possibilities for the history-making K-pop act.

Another added: “I will always trust BTS they will always have my support and I will be waiting for them. Tbh it’s most likely they’ll have a Comeback at the end of 2026 or mid-2027. That depends on the contract renewal. Can’t wait for them to be together again.”
While BTS may not have a comeback till 2025, BTS fans have a lot to look forward to as members come with their solo debut projects.
