West Ham United v AEK Larnaca: Round of 16 Leg Two - UEFA Europa Conference League

West Ham United cruised into the quarter-finals of the Europa Conference League on Thursday night.

David Moyes’ charges followed up their 2-0 away win at Larnaca with a 4-0 hammering at the London Stadium.

It was a great day for quite a few West Ham attacking players.

Gianluca Scamacca, whose Hammers future has been the subject of speculation, started and scored the opener.

Meanwhile, Jarrod Bowen reacted to missing out on the England squad with a well-taken brace.

However, the forward who will have enjoyed the night the most will be Divin Mubama, without a doubt.

‘Brilliant, instinctive finish’

The West Ham academy graduate and boyhood fan scored his first ever senior goal in claret and blue.

It came four months after he had found the back of the net against FCSB, only for it to be awarded as an own goal.

Mubama came on in the 54th minute as part of a triple substitution alongside Danny Ings and Maxwel Cornet.

Lucas Paqueta, Scamacca and Bowen made way for the trio.

And just 11 minutes later, Mubama got himself on the scoresheet.

The prolific Under-21s ace steered home Tomas Soucek’s header from an Aaron Cresswell corner.

Sky Sports reporter James Savundra praised Mubama for his goal.

“A brilliant, instinctive finish from Mubama,” he said (16/3/23, 21:31).

“What a way to score your first goal for the club.

“Another success story for the famous West Ham academy.

“The teenager has got a brilliant scoring record at youth level.

“The Hammers will finish the evening with four academy graduates on the pitch with those final substitutions made by David Moyes.”

A day Mubama will never forget and hopefully the first of many for him at senior level in claret and blue.
