Leeds United v Nottingham Forest - Premier League

BBC Sport pundit Clinton Morrison praised Leeds United winger Luis Sinisterra for his goal against Nottingham Forest.

Javi Gracia’s Whites hosted Steve Cooper’s Reds at Elland Road hoping to bounce back from their loss at Arsenal.

The visitors opened the scoring in the 12th minute as Orel Mangala rifled an emphatic finish into the bottom corner.

However, Leeds restored parity just eight minutes later through Jack Harrison.

The 25-year-old finished on the rebound after Keylor Navas spilled Marc Roca’s drive from the edge of the area.

Leeds improved as the half went on, with the Elland Road faithful sensing another goal was on the cards.

This duly came on the stroke of half-time as Sinisterra produced a superb solo effort for the hosts.

The 23-year-old got the better of Neco Williams, drove into the area and struck into the far corner.

Morrison, commentating on BBC Radio 5 Live, liked what he saw from Sinisterra.

“It’s a brilliant goal,” he said, as transcribed by the BBC Sport website.

“But for me – Neco Williams, he wants to come in on his right foot – so show him down the line.”

“It is poor defending from Forest but brilliant finish from Sinisterra.”

The former Feyenoord star’s goal helped Leeds secure a 2-1 win over the City Ground outfit.

Leeds started the evening in the relegation zone, but those three points lifted them up to 13th in the table.

‘A weapon down the home straight’

The Colombia international struggled against Arsenal at the weekend, so it’s great to see him shine against Forest.

Beren Cross of Leeds Live awarded Sinisterra an 8 out of 10 for his efforts against the City Ground side.

“Finally something like the best we saw from him in the autumn,” he wrote.

“Goal was reminiscent of what we saw in his debut against Barnsley.

“First touch and dribbling was terrorising Neco Williams.

“Add some fitness to the technical ability and he will be a weapon down the home straight.”

Obviously Leeds fans know what Sinisterra is capable of when he’s firing on all cylinders.

He has weighed in with several goals and shown glimpses of quality amid the injury issues he’s had this season.

If Leeds had him fit all season, who knows how much higher they’d be in the table.
