Jay Bothroyd says Oliver Skipp has put in ‘big performances’ for Tottenham Hotspur this season ahead of their Champions League showdown with AC Milan.
The former Arsenal striker thinks Antonio Conte’s Tottenham have the chance to qualify for the next round of the Champions League, but they have to overcome a first-leg 1-0 deficit.
With injuries and suspensions to Tottenham’s midfield, both Skipp and youngster Pape Matar Sarr started the first leg at the San Siro.

Even though they came away from Italy with a loss, given that they had two young guns in midfield, they performed very well and they can hold their heads up high.
Added to that, with Rodrigo Bentancur out for the long-term, it makes Tottenham’s midfield life a lot tougher but also increases the minutes of someone like Skipp.
Nonetheless, Bothroyd spoke about Tottenham this season and how they are reliant on their forward players to cook, as he told Sky Sports News (08/03/23).
“When I talk to a lot of my friends that are Tottenham fans, with me being from north London, I think the results of their games always depend on how their forwards play,” said Bothroyd.
“When you look at their strike force. Harry Kane, in my opinion, is the best number nine in the country, for sure. Son, then Kulusevski. Richarlison has gone there. They have a really, really good attacking part to their team.

“Oliver Skipp has gone in there. He is doing really well, which is great to see coming from the youth academy. He has put in big performances. They are very capable to go and do it (beat AC Milan).”

UNDERRATED SKIPP
The 22-year-old is an undervalued member of the Spurs side and someone who should be earning more minutes.
It needs to be remembered, he was playing for Spurs as a fresh-faced teenager, in the Champions League, when Mauricio Pochettino was in charge.
He had a very fruitful loan spell at Norwich City in between, but now he is deserving of raising his minutes at his boyhood club.
And with Bentencur set to be out of action for most of the year, then this is Skipp’s chance to stand tall and make that midfield spot his own.
