Laura Woods and Ally McCoist have defended Arsenal’s actions of celebrating in a wild fashion following their stoppage-time winner against Bournemouth on Saturday at the Emirates, as they told talkSPORT (07/03/23).
When Reiss Nelson struck his half-volley into the back of the net in the 97th minute. Everyone associated with Arsenal went well and truly bonkers.
Now, you have probably heard of the celebration police this season given the number of late goals Arsenal have scored?!

Well, they are out in full force again. This time in the form of those who run the ship. The Football Association. It’s been claimed that the FA are investigating Arsenal’s celebrations, as reported by BBC Sport.
A fine and possible ban could be on the cards. It’s probably crazy to think that is going to happen because you are seemingly being punished for happy emotions.
Nonetheless, Arsenal fan and presenter Laura Woods spoke about Jurgen Klopp getting banned for running onto the pitch a couple of seasons ago in the Merseyside derby.
In that regard, she thinks it’s understandable that Arsenal will face punishment. But she also asked the powers that be to be fair and do the same to Bruno Fernandes for pushing the linesman during Manchester United’s 7-0 loss to Liverpool.
“I remember when Klopp went on for the Merseyside derby and I think he might have got fined, perhaps,” said Woods. “So, if you want to keep in with the game and all that business, then do it.
“But also, you are sucking the life out of it a little bit. It is the fun police, isn’t it?! If you are going to that, then you have to go back and ban Bruno (Fernandes) for pushing the linesman. Like, keep it in some sort of order.”

McCoist added: “I am with you guys totally. But it’s the rule, I suppose. If Klopp got fined for it, then you will get fined for it.
“I had seen the goal, but I hadn’t seen the celebrations after. Then, I loved watching them. I love watching people show emotion like that. It’s just sport at its best. I thought it was fantastic the scenes.”

LET PEOPLE CELEBRATE
One of the great things about football is the emotion. Whether it’s your team conceding a late goal or scoring one.
Don’t drain that out of supporters, players or those on the sidelines.
At the end of the day, a club like Arsenal, over the years, have been through the mill and have witnessed some serious rubbish.
So, they have every right to hype up every game, win and late goal because they haven’t been used to that for a very long time.
